How stage fright works…

How stage fright works…

This video explains in a very nice, clear way why we have stage fright. I always explain to participants that the reason why we experience stress before speaking is because all eyes are fixed on us (most don’t like that) and we know that these eyes will judge us. So we worry thinking: “what will they think about me”. This worry triggers the fight or flight response. The problem is…we can’t run, we have to speak up. So what inexperienced speakers will do subconsciously is “freeze” and this shows in their body language. Which is why it is very important for me to work on body language and I do this with every person I work with. Body language before and on stage!
